Prawns are small to medium-sized aquatic crustaceans that resemble shrimp and belong to the suborder Dendrobranchiata. They are found in both freshwater and marine environments around the world. One well-known species is the Macrobrachium rosenbergii, commonly called the giant river prawn. Prawns have elongated bodies, segmented shells, long antennae, and multiple pairs of legs, with some species having large front claws. They are an important source of seafood globally and are valued for their high protein content, mild flavor, and economic importance in aquaculture and fisheries.
